#BLACKLIVESMATTER

Collage of Black historical figures and events

Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a decentralized political and social movement that seeks to highlight racism, discrimination, and inequality experienced by black people. When its supporters come together, they do so primarily to protest incidents of police brutality and racially motivated violence against black people.

We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. We must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

We affirm the livesof Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. Our network centers those who have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

We are workingfor a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

We affirm our humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation. BLM generally engages in direct action tactics that make people uncomfortable enough that they must address the issue. BLM has been known to build power through protest and rallies. BLM has also staged die-ins and held one during the 2015 Twin Cities Marathon.

The mission of BlackLivesDAO is to inspire a powerful solidarity network and fight for the freedom of black people. We will raise funds to support educational activities, charity programs and justice for all black people in the world. Since the birth of Black Lives Matter, we have always acknowledged that we are but one marker in the long struggle for Black freedom. Our communities of memory—those revolutionary thinkers, organizers, cultural workers, and the everyday people whom struggled before us—continue to serve as a moral resource for us to mobilize.
